Dakini's Whisper e-Learning

MASTER COURSE 2:
Shamatha Mahamudra I

Resting in the Conventional Nature of Mind
This course is dedicated to establishing and cultivating single-pointed concentration, focusing specifically on developing a calm, clear, and focused mind, with an emphasis on understanding the nature of mind itself. Over the span of five weeks, participants will learn techniques to cultivate and refine their attention, strengthen mindfulness, and integrate meditation skills into daily life. Within Buddhism, this training is commonly known as Shamatha practice.

Mahamudra Shamatha serves as the cornerstone for advanced practices and holds a foundational role in the paths of liberation and awakening in the Mahamudra and Dzogchen traditions. Known by various names such as “Shamatha focusing on the conventional nature of mind,” “Settling the mind in its natural state,” “Taking the mind as the path,” and “Taking appearances and awareness as the path,” this practice forms the bedrock of spiritual development.

Additionally, the course will illuminate the preliminary practices that serve as a foundation for Mahamudra practice, alongside a brief exploration of tantra or Vajrayana practices. As part of this offering, Khandro-la will provide oral transmission and commentary on the teachings found in "The Highway to the Conquerors: A Root Text on the Precious Geluk-Kagyu Mahamudra Tradition" and its auto-commentary. Khandro-la received transmission of this text from esteemed masters, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
